Enjoy exclusive access to our best available rates when you book using our official website.

Leopold Square

Our Sheffield hotel is perfectly situated within the picturesque Leopold Square, named for Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, youngest son of Queen Victoria, who officially opened Firth College there in 1879. Once in the square, you’ll feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle of the city, in a secluded oasis of calm. Leopold Square has a magnificent collection of Grade 2 buildings that once housed Sheffield Grammar School and latterly the Central Technical School for Boys. After an extensive renovation, the square is a great destination with high-end bars and restaurants and our beautiful Leopold Hotel. Spend a spring day enjoying some tasty food and drink, admiring the scenery & water features while soaking up the sun on the terrace.

The Winter Garden

The Winter Garden is one of the best attractions in Sheffield and ideal for a spring day out for friends, family or children. The greenhouse contained within is one of the largest temperate greenhouses to be built in the UK in the last 100 years and is a picture-perfect destination. The building itself is 70 metres long and 22 metres high.  There are more than 2500 plants and species contained within the Winter Garden and Spring is a great time to admire the new life. The garden is in the heart of the city and a great place for an afternoon walk or a fun day out for little ones. You can stop in the café and enjoy a coffee or some light refreshments along the way.

Shopping in Sheffield

While it’s not exactly an outdoor activity, everyone’s wardrobe could use a spring clean, leaving space for some wonderful new pieces. Start your shopping trip in Sheffield along the ‘Golden Mile’ Ecclesall Road which has almost 400 businesses along a 1.5-mile stretch through the city. The road stretches from the City Centre to suburban Banner Cross and you’ll find a little of everything, from independent shops to high street names. It’s a fun day out for groups of friends or couples and a stroll through the street is a great way to soak up some spring sunshine while window shopping. Make sure to stop in Cocoa Wonderland for a delicious drink and some chocolate to enjoy at home.

Parson House Outdoor Pursuits Centre

Spring is a great time to get to grips with the great outdoors before it’s too warm or too busy. Drive 20 minutes from the city centre to Parson House Outdoor Pursuits Centre, a centre offering a wide variety of outdoor adventure activities for individuals, families, an groups. Their instructors are fully qualified in several outdoor activities with a great amount of practical experience in each of them. Activities include bouldering, obstacle courses, canoeing, caving, abseiling, orienteering and climbing and that’s the tip of the iceberg! It’s a great way to enjoy the mild Spring weather and get active.

Ecclesall Woods

Ecclesall Woods are the most wonderful place to visit at any time of the year bus especially in Spring when you can enjoy new life with flora and fauna galore. It’s an area of woodland between Abbeydale Road South and is the largest ancient semi-natural woodland in South Yorkshire and the “jewel in the crown” in our 1,500-hectare woodland estate. It’s a great place for families with a playground and a beautiful miniature railway. Make your own fun with a casual stroll or a challenging walk through the woods, stopping for a picnic or to refuel in the café afterwards. Ecclesall Woods is about 20 minutes by car from our hotel in Sheffield.

We’re looking forward to enjoying the longer evenings and brighter mornings of Springtime and we hope you are too. Join us for a trip to Sheffield you won’t forget in the beautifully unique Leopold Hotel.
