Here in Sheffield, we are incredibly lucky to have the ability to easily get into green space and the outdoors – which is what has given us the name ‘The Outdoor City’. Plenty of people live here because they love walking, running, climbing, road cycling, mountain biking, wild swimming or trekking in and around the Peak District.
But one aspect many of us have realised over the last year is that sometimes just being in a place with lots of green space and seeing it around you is truly important. Which is why it’s also so great that we have so many green spaces in the city to explore too, whatever age or ability you are.
Sheffield – The Green City
Visiting this green city and getting the most out of your city break is all about the planning, this gets the most out of the precious time you spend here and fills not only the eye but the heart too with so much amazing scenery and feel-good endorphins.
Botanic Gardens
If you’re staying just one night you don’t need to miss out as there’s plenty of green open space close to the Leopold Hotel, so make sure to check out The Botanical Gardens Sheffield Botanical Gardens – Welcome to Sheffield Botanical Gardens. There is music in the gardens, art in the gardens, open-air theatres, guided tours or simply the most spectacular indoor and outdoor planting the area has on offer. And when you feel like a good Northern ‘cuppa’ stop at the Curators Restaurant or Tea Rooms for a refreshing refuelling stop. Sheffield Botanical Gardens are just one mile southwest of the hotel (S10 2LN) just a short drive in a couple of minutes.
Chatsworth House
Staying a couple of nights then you’ll certainly have a great full day out at Chatsworth House – there’s a bus that goes there daily or you can take the car and drive in 45 minutes and soak up the wonderful Peak District views along the way. You are worthwhile allowing a full day at Chatsworth, you can visit the House, the Farmyard, roam the hundreds of acres and have a picnic or tour the award-winning Gardens before heading to the stable yard packed with a variety of home-cooked foods and outlets allowing you to take home some treasures for family and friends. Events are hosted within the grounds across many dates from Horse Trials, Country Shows to Opera and global music artists more details can be found on this link.
